This main bearing set matches a standard-bore case with a reground crankshaft. For Volkswagen 1200cc (40hp), 1300cc, 1500cc and 1600cc air-cooled Type 1-based engines, including the matching Type 2 and Type 3 applications below.

• Type 3 Squareback / Notchback: 1962-1973, 1500-1600cc engines
• Type 3 Fastback: 1966-1973, 1500-1600cc engines
• Thing / Type 181: 1973-1974

Not for early 25hp or 36hp engines, or 1700-2000cc Type 4 engines. Check the engine that's actually installed, then match the case bore, crankshaft undersize and thrust cut to this set. Rebuilt or replacement engines may need a different size from the original engine.
